Cold to the 10th...

Having returned from Tulsa, with ample time to reflect and warm up, I am not sure that I have ever had such frozen toes. Maybe I have just been really spoiled lately with the balmy spring-like temps or maybe I am a whiny puss...possibly a combination of the two.

I woke up early, so that I could do my 5 mile tempo run before my flight...it was 13 degrees and snowy out...which meant the dreadmill was the only real option; which worked out A-OK...5x1/4 mile repeats in z4, then z2 for the balance. Easy enough, then off to Tulsa.

For the past few weeks, my retail broker and friend Doug had been planning to bring an extra bike to town so we could ride after our meeting...how cool is that? I'll take a bike ride over a round of golf, any/every day...(if you've ever seen me on the linx, you'd be grateful). At any rate, I'd been watching the temperature for a while...mid to high 70s solid...

I was ready to sweat...I even shaved the winter fuzz off my legs. 5 pm came and we met in the lobby, ready to roll...As we looked outside we clearly saw the flag a'flying and the clouds a'rolling in ...the temp had dropped about 15 degrees in a really short time.

There was a little extra gear, but not nearly enough. The humid cold and gale force winds beat the hell out of me for 2 hours. When we got back to the car it was 39 degrees. Some choice words were loudly shouted, a short conversation with God, a "get the sand out of your clitoris" ... two beers later with two comforters, I hit the sack.

Looks like I may need to continue riding the trainer in front of my fireplace for a while yet.
