Today was about a perfect day. I got to sleep in a teence. The plan was to start work early, leave early and get my long run in after work. The schedule said 10.5 miles, but I convinced myself that I had to do 12. The weather was ideal. 55 degrees, slightly overcast, the eastern sky full of angry dark clouds, sun over the mountains, and of course, our old friend, the wind.
I've learned to embrace the winter and now, spring winds...definitely our friend, as we train, for what may be our biggest endurance event to date, or ever...I just hope it doesn't show up on June 22...fingers crossed.
As I approached the six mile turn around, I thought...its the 13th...maybe I'll go 13 instead...As I passed the 6.5 mile turn-around, I thought...just a little more. At 7.5 miles, I turned for home, the wind at my back. 15 miles in the bank. Great run.

Great job on the run as I know that mileage is new territory post hip issue. I have no doubt you are going to have a great run at IMCdA - you need to believe in yourself like the rest of us do. You're going to do awesome! You will have so much support there...
Isn't it so nice when you have those runs where you can go forever. Nice job but I have to insert some honest advice as well (as your friend and MT), be patient, now is the time to put the hay in the barn as Craig says.
You must trust and follow your individualized plan. Base phase is hard because you have to hold back right now. I know its so hard to do but I promise the impossible workouts are coming and you are going to need your base like you've never needed anything before in your life.
what BoulderJess said.
and the pic is a dude with burning love for the other exposing themselves behind a blanket ...ya, that's it.
