Riding Bikes...

The week's over...a long one. Saturday's workout started with a 1000 swim. I used a tempo timer for the first time ever...what the heck have I been thinking. That little thing is awesome. Turn the monotony into a quest to be efficiently metronomic. Got out of the pool, got sucked into a documentary on Bigfoot for a few minutes, fueled up and set out to meet BJ and Brian for a ride. We all had different distances to ride, but caught up about 10 miles in and spent a few hours cruising thru Interlocken and Arvada. At the end of the day, I rode just shy of 69 mile and finished it off with a 1 mile run-off-the-ride.

Kind of reminded me of those days of our youth, when we would take off on our bikes early and traipse all over the New England countryside, only to return home 20 minutes later than mom wanted us there, late for dinner, worried sick, as the summer sun was beginning to set....

Saw two great movies this weekend that I'd highly recommended...August Rush and Into the Wild, both must sees!!

Sunday consisted of hot yoga and some quality time with Lunz, as well as some long overdue spring cleaning chores and unfinished projects. Made some killer Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese that I modified slightly for dinner, that was perfectly complemented with several Pale Ales. Both K and her pal Kelly W. thought it was a big hit...so that recipe will join the 50 or so other crumpled, stained and torn recipes in our file cupboard above the stove, to be enjoyed again.

Next week's schedule looks like this...5,300 swim, 120 bike, 24 miles run...my tired legs and I say "bring it"!

Great riding on Saturday. As you know, takes alot to get me out during this winter days. But well worth it. Thanks for being a tour guide, Brian too. I just tagged along. Never been out that way before. My legs were toast after that ride.

You climbed well, pulled us both up that Sims hill (i think that's the road name). Nice job. Have a great week of training...stay strong...consistent...that's the most important thing.

See you saturday.
