I headed out a few minutes before him, and felt him on my heals the whole way...within minutes he caught up to me and we ran together for the better part of the 5.7 mile, hilly, windy loop...John barely stoking the furnace and me feeling like I was bleeding out of my lungs...OK that's a mild exaggeration...at any rate, the loop that I usually do in about 50 minutes, I did today in 46 flat..high z4, low z5 for most of it...Great conversation between the gasps. Thanks John for pushing me.
After I got home from work went to the pool. Today was Kristina's first "official" day of IM training, it has begun. She was already at the pool when I got there...one lane for 4 swimmers, lovely. A high school girl, Kristina in Finis snorkel and zoomers, a kid with Down's Syndrome and me. I get in, push off the wall and get on with my 550 yard easy-drill-stabilizer workout...Apparently, I had some static cling, because unbeknownst to me a black dress sock had attached itself to my swim shorts...as I pushed off the wall, the force must have jarred the little rascal loose, as I swam past my lane mates. The kid with Down's looked over at Kristina and said "is that a sock??"...Indeed, it was.
Zipped home for my second all time fave meal, "breakfast for dinner", a schmorgusborg of eggs, sausage, potatoes, cheese, and veggies baked in the oven...friggin' awesome. Watched American Idol and now off to saw some wood...
