We all have some level of adversity in our lives, again relative...Adjusting to overcome that adversity is critical. In the big picture, my condition isn't adverse...far from it, but I have adjusted my sails...if only a bit.
Sunday, I did my first race as a walker...albeit unofficial. My crap form would probably have me DQ'd...it's an area for improvement...knowing that mobility and flexibility given multiple surgeries will be a challenge, I'll need to "nip it in the bud" as I set my sights on Portland later this year.
That said, I may have been the first and also the only purposeful race walker out there...at least that I saw. I got some cheers, as well as some snickers. Passed a lot of runners and finished strong. (thanks Jess and Susie for the cruiser escort).
Since the race was "unofficial"...I'll stick with my unofficial Garmin results which were slightly better that the official race results...2:24:33. 10:59/mile. At some point, in the chute to the finish I hit an 8:04 pace!!!
Sunday I was very content with the bearing of my sail. Next up, possibly an official 20K (guilted) and the Estes Park Half for some good measure at altitude. Peace.
